THE Penang government has reiterated its commitment to supporting the Malaysia Hindu Sangam (MHS) Penang in acquiring a plot of land for their new office.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow made this announcement at the Deepavali Open House hosted by MHS Penang at Raaj Tea Palace in Perai today.

Chow highlighted that discussions would soon be initiated with key stakeholders, including Penang Housing and Environment Committee chairman Datuk Seri Sundarajoo Somu, who is also the Perai assemblyman.

“We will engage in talks to identify a suitable plot of land in Perai or other areas within the Batu Kawan parliamentary constituency.

“Once an appropriate location is found, we hope that MHS Penang will take steps to secure funding for the construction of their new office.

“The state government deeply values the contributions of the Indian community to the development and growth of Penang,” Chow said in his speech.

Also present at the event were Sundarajoo, MHS president T. Ganesan, and Penang MHS chairman A. Tharman.

Expressing his appreciation, Tharman thanked Chow and Sundarajoo for their dedication to this initiative.

“Currently, our office operates from a small rental unit in Perai, which costs us RM1,200 per month.

“With the support of YAB Chow and YB Sundarajoo, we hope to secure a piece of land in Perai to build a new office.

“This new space would enable us to organise more impactful programmes for the community, especially those aimed at youth empowerment,” Tharman stated.
