FESTIVITY is about spreading joy and love. In keeping with this spirit, the Malaysian Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MICCI) Penang has continued its tradition of distributing Deepavali hampers to the community.
Yesterday, MICCI provided ‘Deepavali Food Baskets’ to a total of 150 underprivileged families, helping to bring festive cheer and relief to those in need.
State Housing and Environment Committee chairman Datuk Seri Sundarajoo Somu, who officiated the event, praised MICCI for its unwavering commitment to supporting the community.
“This initiative, carried out over the past years, demonstrates the unity and commitment of MICCI members.
“My hope is to see unity flourish among the Indian community as we celebrate Deepavali together,” Sundarajoo said.
MICCI Penang president Datuk S. Parthiban hoped that the contributions would enable families to celebrate Deepavali with joy and gratitude.
Also present were MICCI member Datuk G. Mariadas, state MIC chairman Datuk J. Dhinagaran, and other dignitaries.
The recipients also received ‘ang pau’ packets from MICCI.
