“The lanterns will be on display for a month.

“The main event will take place on Sept 15, featuring a range of activities including traditional games, workshops, a photography contest, cultural performances, and a lantern parade,” Teh said.

About 500 lanterns will be distributed free of charge to children participating in the parade, though they are encouraged to bring their own lanterns as well.

The parade will begin at 7.45pm on Sept 15, offering an opportunity for children to celebrate with friends and family, fostering a sense of community and cultural appreciation.

“This parade is a cherished tradition of the Mid-Autumn Festival, helping children deepen their understanding and appreciation of their cultural heritage,” Teh remarked at the media conference held at the Komtar Penang2030 Centre on Jalan S.P. Chelliah.

The main event on Sept 15 will run from 5pm to 10pm, with an expected attendance of around 5,000 visitors.

Organised by the Kampung Kolam Village Community Management Council (MPKK) and supported by the offices of Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, Tanjong MP Lim Hui Ying, Komtar assemblyman Teh Lai Heng, Pengkalan Kota assemblyman Wong Yuee Harng, and Penang Island City Council (MBPP) councillors Benji Ang and Alan Lim, the event is also backed by 19 strategic partners, including Penang Yap Kongsi, Penang Teochew Association, Penang Chinese Brush Painting Art Society, Teochew Merchants Association Penang, and Persatuan Keturunan Teh Si Eng Eong Tong.

Also present at the media conference were Kampung Kolam MPKK chairman Quah Peng Eow and Por Cheng Han, special officer to Tanjong MP Lim Hui Ying.
