AFTER being held for the first time at the Design Village Outlet Mall in Batu Kawan, Seberang Perai over the weekend, the Penang International Food Festival (PIFF) 2022 moved back to Penang island yesterday (Aug 24).
PIFF 2022, which runs until Aug 28, will be held across the state, featuring two major events, six mini-festivals and three cooking classes.
The opening two days of the festival were held at the Design Village Outlet Mall to further promote tourism on the mainland.
Yesterday the festival took place at Komtar Walk where the Mini Curry Festival saw some 15 stalls selling a variety of foods.
Komtar assemblyman Teh Lai Heng, who was present at the event, was delighted to see the resumption of the event after a lapse of three years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Penang offers visitors a rich and varied multicultural cuisine. Many of our hawker dishes originate from the food cultures of different migrant groups.
“This is an event where everyone gets to enjoy different types of curry dishes served by the vendors.
“I believe that more people will get to know George Town City Centre (GTCC) and what Komtar has to offer through this event,” he said in his speech when launching the Mini Curry Festival.
Also present were Pengkalan Kota assemblyman Daniel Gooi and Penang Global Tourism (PGT) chief executive officer Ooi Chok Yan.
