VIETNAMESE food and beverage lovers can head to Sunshine Square in Bayan Baru for the Vietnam Food and Beverage Mini Fair, which started yesterday (Dec 14) till Dec 17 (Sunday).
The event, jointly organised by the Trade Office of the Embassy of Vietnam in Malaysia, New Digital Sdn Bhd and Sunshine Wholesale Mart Sdn Bhd for the first time in Penang, promises a unique opportunity for culinary discovery and cultural exchange.
State Tourism and Creative Economy Committee chairman Wong Hon Wai, who was the guest of honour, said the fair aims to enhance awareness of Vietnam’s exported food and beverage products among Malaysian consumers and retailers.
“Vietnam, as an integral part of Asean, shares common goals with Penang.
“This fair is a testament to the unity and collaboration that define Asean.
“By promoting Vietnamese food and beverage products in Penang, we are not just fostering economic ties but strengthening the bond that unites us as members of this vibrant and dynamic region.
“This fair is also an excellent opportunity for our local community to experience and appreciate the rich culinary heritage of Vietnam,” Wong said in his speech before officiating the opening of the mini-fair on Dec 14.
While visiting the fair, attendees can look forward to exploring an array of Vietnamese delicacies, including spring rolls, Pho, Banh Mi and Vietnamese coffee.
During the opening ceremony, visitors were treated to colourful and vibrant Vietnam cultural dance performances by a group of professionally trained dancers.
Also present during the event were Trade Counsellor of the Embassy of Vietnam in Malaysia Le Phu Cuong, Sunshine Wholesale Mart chief executive officer Cynthia Hwang and New Digital chief executive officer Nhu Nguyen.
