THE “Path of Penang Hot Air Balloon Fiesta” that showcases children’s imagination and creativity was launched on Dec 23 at Esplanade.
This event aims to not only promote the Penang Hot Air Balloon Fiesta but also for the public to spend fun time with their loved ones and take memorable photos when they visit the Esplanade.
“This display of lights comprising of mini paper craft balloons painted by children 12 years and below are set up to promote the main event which is the 2nd Penang Hot Air Balloon Fiesta, in conjunction with Chinese New Year on Feb 9 and 10. I do hope everyone will have a good, clean and fun time with family and friends here and will look forward to the main event at Padang Polo Penang,” said Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng at the launch of the event.
Also present were state exco member for Religious Affairs, Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Datuk Abdul Malik Abul Kassim, Penang Island City Council (MBPP) Corporate Division director Mohamed Akbar Mustapha, Penang Global Tourism chief executive officer Ooi Chok Yan, executive director of TLM Events, Alex Quah, and SK St. Xavier principal, M. Barathidasan.
The three white arches of the Esplanade, located directly opposite the Chinese Chamber of Commerce building, are now decorated with some 700 mini paper craft hot air balloons.
They will be lit-up every night for the next 10 weeks to showcase the beautiful works of the young children.}
