THE Malaysian Institute of Planners (Northern Branch) has expressed its desire to have more participation in contributing its knowledge and advice to the Penang government and local authorities.
Its chairman Lee Ham Kong said this when he led a delegation to pay a courtesy call on Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow at the latter’s office in Komtar today.
The others in the delegation were secretary Amelia Neoh Siew Yin, treasurer Cheng Hui Lin, committee members Assoc Prof Dr Khoo Suet Leng, Norliza Abdullah, Prof Dr Azizan Marzuki, co-opted adviser Michael Ong Chin Keong, and auditors Dr Yeong Siew Yan and Tan Ann Hui.
“Planning has to be done in a holistic way, rather than individually or in an ad hoc manner. We have to look at the overall land use planning point of view,” Lee added.
Chow, who thanked them for their visit, said he appreciated the issues raised and also gave his views.
“There is always room for improvement. And I would like you all to feel free to get in touch with the state because stakeholders’ engagement is very important,” Chow said.
