More medical equipment for frontliners

A GROUP of donors, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), associations and corporate sector from the south Seberang Perai today heed the Penang government’s call by donating 50 oxygen concentrators to state Health Department.

Their representatives presented the concentrators to Dr Tan Chin Lok, who is the Jawi Covid-19 low-risk quarantine and treatment centre’s officer.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, who was present for the brief handing over ceremony, was thankful for the contribution given to assist the healthcare system during this trying time.

“The rising Covid-19 cases in the state recently have put healthcare system under immense pressure to cater to the increasing number of patients.

 

“Those Covid-19 patients, especially from Category 4 and 5, are in need of this medical equipment.

The oxygen concentrators donated to the state Health Department.

“Hence, we are extremely happy to receive these oxygen concentrators. This medical equipment can be utilised in hospitals or any of the Covid-19 low-risk quarantine and treatment centre.

“This is a timely contribution to help the healthcare system and all of us need to comply with the relevant standard operating procedures (SOPs),” he told Buletin Mutiara in Komtar today.

Chow told those with pink tag to practise self-quarantine to avoid the virus from spreading to others.

“It’s high time for all of us to swiftly seek self-quarantine if come across any symptoms.

“The cases nowadays are within our own community and we need to take extra precautions,” he added.

Jawi assemblyman H’ng Mooi Lye said he hoped the oxygen concentrators could be fully utilised by the medical fraternity in treating Covid-19 patients.

Also present were Multi Graded Industries Sdn Bhd director Datuk Teoh Boon Tong and the group’s representative Khor Chin Heng.
