THE coffee industry in Penang is growing rapidly and contributing largely to the creative economy in the state, according to state executive councillor Yeoh Soon Hin.
The state Tourism and Creative Economy Committee chairman highlighted the role of the industry as coffee, a commonly consumed beverage here, does not only power your day but also helps power the state and national economy.
He cited Forest Cloud, previously known as Forest Cloud Coffee Company, for the importance of growing consumption and the coffee industry innovation.
He said Forest Cloud serves as a Sensory Experience Cafe, Experience Store, Coffee Roaster, Coffee Academy, Coffee Consultant and Coffee Machine Clinic.
“I’m glad that Forest Cloud took a step forward to spearhead the smart integration of coffee, education and experience all under one roof. The young and old are able to learn many skills at Forest Cloud, ranging from coffee brewing to specialty beverage preparation.
“The Forest Cloud is one of the Penang’s gems for creative economy. It has set a good example in paving the way for the creative industry and creative economy in Penang.
“It is a place where the creative industry of Penang will be nurtured and developed as well as growing the economy to greater heights.
“The coffee industry fits right within the creative economy while the term ‘coffee industry’ carries weight to arts, culture, lifestyle and creative education,” he told reporters during the Forest Cloud Sensory Experience Media Meet in Penang Road today.
Today, Forest Cloud has grown from a small start-up to a renowned company with its opening in Penang Road.
