A TOTAL of RM7,575,198 was spent on various development projects in the Batu Kawan parliamentary constituency throughout 2024.
The allocation covered areas including Perai, Bukit Tengah, and Bukit Tambun.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the expenditure encompassed infrastructure upgrades, educational programmes, allocations to Islamic and non-Islamic religious houses, community initiatives, and more.
Chow stated that the funds were spent from the time he was elected Batu Kawan MP in 2022 until December 2024.
“The allocation was fairly distributed among the state constituencies of Perai, Bukit Tengah, and Bukit Tambun to ensure balanced development across the region,” he said during his speech at the Perai state constituency Hari Raya Open House at Taman Inderawasih Food Court in Perai today.

Chow praised Datuk Seri Sundarajoo Somu, who was elected Perai assemblyman in the last state election, for being a strong ally in addressing residents’ needs.
“Since his election, Sundarajoo has been a great partner, consistently advocating for the well-being of his constituents and pushing for improved facilities.
“He has certainly eased my responsibilities by working effectively alongside his village community management council (MPKK) members, Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP) councillors, and other stakeholders.
As Chief Minister, Chow pledged to continue monitoring development progress in Perai and other state constituencies under Batu Kawan to ensure a better quality of life for residents.
“I hope Sundarajoo continues his commendable work and serves his community with dedication and heart,” he added.
Sundarajoo is also the state executive councillor overseeing the Housing and Environment portfolios.
Meanwhile, regarding the redevelopment of Kampung Manis, Sundarajoo said a groundbreaking ceremony is expected to be held before the end of the year, marking the start of this critical project.

“We anticipate Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, accompanied by our Chief Minister, to officiate the ceremony.
“The rezoning plan has already been submitted to the relevant authorities, and we are awaiting approval to proceed,” he said.
The open house event drew attendees from all walks of life, who enjoyed an array of local delicacies and lively dance performances.
