PENANG’S status as a hub of innovation, creativity, and economic growth has been further solidified with the establishment of a strong legal framework to drive expansion in the creative economy.
State Tourism and Creative Economy Committee chairman Wong Hon Wai expressed his pride at witnessing the launch of the Malaysia Creativepreneur Strategic Alliance by The One Academy Penang at Straits Quay today.
He highlighted that the initiative, spearheaded by The One Academy Penang, in collaboration with Creative Mentor’s Sdn Bhd, Messrs Veon Szu & Kok Thye, Sculpture Environment Art Sdn Bhd, Creation at Work (CAW), and Main Play Creative Plt, aims to bolster the creative economy and inspire the development of intellectual property (IP) characters.
“Today’s signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) among these partners marks a significant step forward for the creative industry.
“This MoU signifies a collaborative effort to enhance the creative industry platform, focusing on key areas such as education, production, market development, distribution, and legal protection,” he stated.
Wong emphasised that the MoU sets a solid foundation for a flourishing creative sector, while The One Academy Penang’s commitment to excellence in training ensures that local talent is well-equipped to compete on the global stage.
He also acknowledged the critical relationship between artificial intelligence and IP, expressing optimism about the future achievements that lie ahead.
“The development of improved distribution networks and legal protections aligns with our goal to position Penang as a leader in the global creative market,” he added.
Among those present at the event were Main Play Creative Plt founder Loh Woon Foo, Creation at Work Sdn Bhd director Heng Wei Xiang, The One Academy Penang managing director Leong Hoy Yoke, Veon Szu & Kok Thye founder Khaw Veon Szu, and Sculpture Environment Art Sdn Bhd director Yeoh Guan Eek.
