IN response to the widespread issue of premises displaying worn-out ‘Jalur Gemilang’, Bukit Bendera MP Syerleena Abdul Rashid has launched a campaign to respect and preserve the dignity of the national flag.

She highlighted the importance of the national flag as a symbol of pride and unity for all Malaysians.

“The parliamentary session on June 24 will be a platform where I will raise this issue. As Malaysians, we should not allow such issues (displaying worn-out ‘Jalur Gemilang’) to persist.

“The flag represents our pride in being Malaysians, and it is a symbol of our unity.

“In terms of the quality of the flag fabric, we need to standardise it so that the flags can last longer. One of the things I want to do is find a factory or premises that can provide durable and high-quality fabric,” Syerleena told a media conference at Taycon Motor Masjid Negeri yesterday.

She called on the public to notify her office if they see any tattered flags being displayed.

“Premises are reminded to take their own initiative by replacing old and worn flags with new ones. I kindly ask the public to assist by alerting my office if you notice any worn-out flags at any premises,” she urged.

This campaign underscores the importance of respecting the ‘Jalur Gemilang’ and ensuring it remains a proud symbol of Malaysian unity and identity.

Syerleena also commended Taycon Motor Masjid Negeri for supporting her campaign.

Its branch manager Lim Seong Meng was present at the media conference.
