PENANG DAP has been called to prepare itself for a new political scenario in the state.
State DAP chairman Chow Kon Yeow said the unity government, Pakatan Harapan and DAP, must not underestimate the challenges which lie ahead.
“We are facing a new political scenario with the formation of the unity government following the national and state elections.
“At the same time, we are facing a strong Opposition coalition in Penang which has won 11 state seats.
“Their strength must not be underestimated.
“We can review our strengths and weaknesses from the results of the elections. We need to leverage our strengths and address our weaknesses to face the challenges ahead.
“We can infer that the Opposition uses social media more effectively,” he said in his speech during the Penang DAP annual convention at The TOP in Komtar, today.
Chow said Penang has delivered 94% of the 14th General Election manifesto promises.
“We are now working on fulfilling the 15th General Election manifesto promises, which has a continuation of the 14th General Election manifesto promises.
“We appreciate the support of the Federal Government, the Prime Minister and ministers for their assistance to the state,” Chow said.
He also stressed the need to engage the rakyat, and transform the communication landscape from the top to the grassroots and the people.
“The people will have higher expectations and there are many issues that need to be addressed,” he said.
Before concluding his speech, Chow thanked the party leadership for their support.
“Thank you for entrusting me to lead Penang as the Chief Minister for the second term.
“I believe that this trust was given based on my track record in the party, which I have served for the past 37 years.
“Every individual possesses strengths and weaknesses. When we address areas of improvement, we must reflect on the party’s historical struggles,” he said.
