New community hall for residents of Cherok To’Kun Atas

LOCAL community of Cherok To’Kun Atas in Machang Bubok can now hold leisure and recreational activities at the newly-built community hall which was initiated by the Penang government.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the hall was fully completed in October last year.

“We are delighted that the hall, built at the cost of RM3.268 million, will benefit the residents in the neighbourhood.

“The community hall, which was built on a 0.77-acre land, is equipped with facilities such as badminton courts, a management office, utility rooms, washrooms, a surau and a pantry.

Chow welcomed by those present during the event.

“A similar community hall was also built for the residents at Cherok To’Kun Bawah.

“These facilities bring betterment to the lives of the community,” he said in his speech during the opening ceremony of the Cherok To’Kun Atas community hall today.

On a separate note, Chow said growth in manufacturing and other related sectors has lifted the state to greater heights.

He also joined the other guests to break fast after the ceremony.

Among those present were state Social Development and Non-Islamic Religious Affairs Committee chairman Chong Eng, Machang Bubok assemblyman Lee Khai Loon, Berapit assemblyman Heng Lee Lee, central Seberang Perai district officer Kamarul Haizal Koderat and central Seberang Perai district police chief Tan Cheng San.
