New PHEB commissioners all geared up to serve community

NEWLY appointed Penang Hindu Endowments Board (PHEB) chairman RSN Rayer said his team is ready to serve the community with sheer dedication while fostering inclusiveness and friendliness.

Rayer revealed the new line-up of the PHEB commissioners during a press conference at Komtar today.

“Our commissioners come from diverse backgrounds and have varying experiences, which will be beneficial.

“For the first time, we have a temple priest (gurukal), as part of our commissioner team who can advise us on ecclesiastical matters.

“We also have a representative from the Gujerati community, an accountant as well as a valuer with us.

“We are here to serve the community and will do our best to look after the Hindu community,” Rayer said while adding that the board is open to suggestions and is willing to meet the public to listen to their views.

Apart from that, Rayer also announced that the PHEB has decided to cancel the allowance of RM200, which was paid to the commissioners during meetings previously.

“This was suggested by our deputy chairman Senator Dr R.A. Lingeshwaran and I believe that our commissioners will also agree to this,” he said.

Rayer also added that if there’s a need for an executive director for the PHEB, it will be discussed with the board first.

Rayer, who is also the Jelutong MP, thanked Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow for entrusting him with the PHEB leadership as well as appointing the commissioners.

State Housing and Environment Committee chairman Datuk Seri Sundarajoo Somu said that the PHEB aims to run professionally.

MIC chairman Datuk J. Dhinagaran, who is also joining the board, thanked Rayer for including him to be part of the team.
