PENANG Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow has reminded Penangites to celebrate and treasure peace.

“Peace is important to end conflicts. When we have peace in our hearts, we can live in peace with everyone around us – our families, neighbours, colleagues and the community.

“We are blessed to live in a country of different cultures and beliefs; and we learn to live in peace and harmony with one another.

“We are here today to celebrate two happy occasions – Christmas, the festival of joy, and the New Year where new hopes and aspirations are set,” he said in his speech during the Penang Development Corporation (PDC) Christmas and New Year 2019 open house on Jan 15.

He also congratulated PDC for its 50th anniversary and for successfully organising the event.

“We are proud of PDC for bringing about transformation in Penang,” he said.

PDC also shared their joy with two charitable organisations – Eden Handicap Service Centre and Penang Cheshire Home – when it contributed RM1,500 to each centre.

Organising chairman Mary Loo said PDC hoped that the contribution would ease the financial burden of the organisations.
