FOLLOWING the emergence of Covid-19 cases involving inmates in the Penang Prison, Buddhist Tzu-Chi Merit Society has come forward to lend a hand.
They have contributed face masks, face shields and isolation gowns to the prison authorities.
Tzu-Chi Penang commissioner Khoo Boo Leong handed 5,000 of three-ply face masks, 500 N95 face masks, 500 face shields and 500 complete sets of isolation gowns.
The kind contribution by the Buddhist Tzu-Chi Merit Society was well received by the Penang Prison deputy enforcer (security & intelligence unit) Mohd Nizam Nazri.
The Penang Prison has since undergone sanitisation and other precautionary measures after seven inmates were tested positive for Covid-19.
This included an 85-year-old male prisoner, who died in the prison on Monday.
