NIU Electric Smart Scooter to hit the streets in Penang

PENANGITES will get to experience the comfort of riding NIU electric smart scooter soon with the opening of its showroom at the ground floor of Gurney Plaza today.
MForce Bike Holdings Sdn Bhd, with the cooperation of NIU International, will introduce the World’s First Electric Scooter, named NIU, to the people who are passionate about the green and smart state concept.
It is also their first showroom to be opened in the country while other similar showrooms are expected to be opened soon.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, who was present to launch the ceremony, said the electric scooter is the number one Smart E-Scooter in the world, in terms of units sold, countries riding in and with a total one billion kilometres ridden globally.
“With the opening of its showroom, Penangites will be able to test ride and feel the comfort of riding the NIU Electric Scooter,” he said in his speech before officiating the opening of NIU EBike showroom.

Also present were Mforce Bike Holdings general manager operations Asri Ahmad, NIU International Company’s Limited overseas market director Kasper Zhao and Malaysia Motorcycle and Scooter Dealers Association vice-president Lim Hock Chye.
As the state continues to progress, it will not be spared of the increase in traffic flow.
“The state government will continue its efforts and initiatives in improving its infrastructures and transportation plans to ease traffic congestion,” said Chow.
At same time, he added that the state was also looking into various means of transportation mode for the convenience of Penangites, like encouraging the usage of public transport.

“I admit there are still a lot of improvement and fine tuning to be done,” he said, adding that it was a timely move that the corporates and local companies were doing their part in contributing to the success.
The electric smart scooter is priced at RM8,800 on the road.
