NSW Automation to move to bigger plant

NSW Automation Sdn Bhd will be relocating to its new factory, which is four times more than its current size, at the Penang Science Park this year.

The company held a soft launch of its new 45,000sq ft factory today, in conjunction with its corporate dinner, themed ‘Oscar Night’, at St Giles The Wembley Hotel tonight.

Its managing director Boo Kiang Ngee, better known as K.N. Boo, said the new facility would provide the grounds for NSW to further empower tomorrow’s technology that will push further the boundaries that are not known of.

“In this new location, we are determined to reach an even higher safety and quality control standard as we perform our best to deliver better and quality products.

“Apart from a larger manufacturing space that will be four times the current capacity, the design of the factory will also support the space needed for the growth of our talent pool, knowledge and skills that will better position us ahead of the international dispensing market.

“This new facility is planned and designed to meet all local and international regulatory requirements and it will house a test lab that allows in-house EMC testing and temperature characterisation for NSW equipment to meet stringent international standards,” Kiang Ngee said in his speech.

He said when the new plant is ready, NSW, which is now located in Batu Maung, would embark on more developments of new products and services.

NSW specialises in high-performance and extremely reliable micro-volume liquid dispensing solutions for today’s advanced electronics manufacturing market. It is known to manufacture the world’s smallest solder paste dispenser.

In retrospect, Kiang Ngee recalled NSW’s humble beginnings in 2004 when it started in a 1,500sq ft lot near Queensbay Mall with the primary activity of designing and manufacturing small automation.

It has relocated twice since then and today, it is a leader in precision micro-dispensing technology and solution provider.

K.N. Boo says he appreciates every one of his employees and suppliers for their diligent work to make NSW what it is today.

“As the saying goes, a company is only as successful as the team behind it. The team behind it, all of my NSW teammates are here today, and I am proud and grateful to every one of you.

“Thank you for all your commitment and dedication during these past years to make us who we are today. In many instances, you have proven to be resilient, especially during the Covid disruptions.

“We must not become complacent about what we have accomplished. We must be grateful for what we have and what we achieved. It is important to look back and reflect on the past few years, and appreciate the diligent work and dedication of every one of you.

“Let’s continue to support each other to attain greater height,” Kiang Ngee concluded.

Abdul Halim says the state would like to see many more local companies develop into regional and global players.

State Entrepreneurial Development, Trade and Industry Committee chairman Datuk Abdul Halim Hussain, who was invited to initiate the soft launch, congratulated NSW on its expansion plan.

He said the state is proud that NSW, a local company, has, in a short span of time, established global footprints.

“For Penang, after 50 years of industrial transformation, we would like to see many more of NSWs, many more of our local companies become regional and global companies.

“The state would like to extend assistance to more SMEs to move from being local players to global players. We like to see our exports go to other parts (of the world). NSW has proven that we need to have confidence and continuous learning to become a multi-national company.

“You have to have this aspiration that one day we can have more Malaysian companies venturing abroad,” Abdul Halim said in his speech.

The company also handed out awards to several employees who have completed five years and 10 years of service.

Also present at the NSW corporate dinner and soft launch of the new factory ceremony were Datuk Seri Lee Kah Choon, the special investment adviser to Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, Malaysian Semiconductor Industry Association president Datuk Seri Wong Siew Hai and his wife Datin Seri Teh Beng Swan, Penang Mida deputy directors Mohd Shafrizal Mohd Shofi and Ahmad Amri Hassim, K.N.
