FOLLOWING the success of National Training Week (NTW) 2023, NTW 2024 is back to offer high-impact training courses to Malaysians. This initiative is a collaborative effort between government agencies, corporate sectors, training providers, trainers, academia, and individuals.
NTW, the nation’s first training-focused week, is spearheaded by HRD Corp. It features a full week of training events and activities that bring together organisations and people from various industries and backgrounds for free learning and development opportunities.
NTW 2024 is being held nationwide from June 24 to 30.
Speaking at the NTW 2024 Carnival at Butterworth Arena in Penang today, HRD Corp chief financial officer Mohamad Farizul Yahaya emphasised the importance of embracing lifelong skills development and learning for the Malaysian workforce and companies to stay competitive both locally and internationally.
“NTW 2024 is a starting point to encourage all Malaysians to continuously improve their skills. We have carefully chosen the skills development activities in each region to ensure locals gain relevant knowledge to support their personal and professional development,” he said.
The opening ceremony drew a crowd of over 1,000 visitors.
Deputy Chief Minister II Jagdeep Singh Deo highlighted the need for Penang to formulate comprehensive strategies to attract the best investments.
“The state has a strong foundation and can go beyond being the Silicon Valley of the East,” he said.
Jagdeep also thanked HRD Corp for providing learning and development opportunities to elevate the quality of human capital in Penang.
Also present were state Youth, Sports, and Health Committee chairman Daniel Gooi Zi Sen, HRD Corp chief executive officer Datuk Shahul Dawood, and Penang International Convention, Cultural & Arts Centre (PICCA) chief operating officer James Chang.
According to the media release, HRD Corp and its partners in the northern region will offer 791 free training programmes throughout NTW 2024, including 252 programmes in Penang, 304 in Perak, 67 in Perlis, and 168 in Kedah.
