Nursing home brings joy to its residents this Deepavali

THE Golden Care Home, a nursing home based here in George Town, held a special Deepavali gathering for its residents on Oct 13, attended by Pulau Tikus assemblyman Joshua Woo Sze Zeng.

 

Called ‘Program Pemantapan Perpaduan’, the event was aimed at fostering unity and bringing joy to its residents.

Started as early as 8am, Woo was joined by families, volunteers, and, local dignitaries, making it a heartwarming and vibrant affair.

 

The home’s managing director, K. Shanmuganathan and his wife, S. Iswari, have learned to have played an instrumental role in the success of this event.

One of the activities of the day was making murukkus, which saw Woo joining the fray with the staff in making the favourites snack, which is popularly eaten during the festivities.

 

Meanwhile, Woo, in his speech, expressed his happiness of being part of the programme, and described it as an important way of connecting and making the elderly feel important in the society.

 

“I thank Golden Home Care for their role in caring for the elderly, and as the representative of this area, I will support initiatives undertaken by the home for the benefit of its residents here,” Woo said in his speech.
