A NERVEWRECKING and exciting Under-12 table tennis championship was held on Jan 3 at the Village Security and Development Committee (JKKK) Hall, Perak Road.
The event was organised by Global Sports Solution, co-organised by Perak Road JKKK and sponsored by Batu Lanchang assemblymember, Danny Law Heng Kiang.
A total of 15 primary schools were represented in the championship, comprising 50 boys and 31 girls.
“I really do love sports and ping pong is one of the sports I used to play seriously. I wanted to give these young children more chances for exposure to competitions and also provide them with a proper venue to play,” said Law.
The newly crowned champions, Eric Yeoh Yi Shen (boys) and Lee Yun Hui (girls), are both turning 12 this year and were both glad to be able to kick start 2016 with this great achievement.
After the finals ended, Law had a spontaneous friendly match with the newly crowned boy’s champion, Eric.
The crowd was excited and cheered both of them/
It ended with a close score of 9-11 in favour of younger lad, Eric.
