THE burgeoning young talents of Penang hold the key to propelling the state’s economic trajectory forward, leveraging their expertise across diverse fields, Deputy Chief Minister II Jagdeep Singh Deo asserts.
Stressing the pivotal role of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), he underscored the improvement of nurturing and harnessing students’ aptitude in these critical domains.
“I have faith that each one of you gathered here today has the potential to make significant contributions in the future.
“However, achieving success requires going above and beyond, and putting in the extra effort.
“That is why embracing STEM education is paramount; it paves the path for our state to soar to even greater heights,” he said in his speech during the STEM Showcase 2024 at UOW Malaysia KDU Penang University College in Batu Kawan today.
The two-day event is organised by the Tech Dome Penang, UOW Malaysia KDU Penang and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI).
Jagdeep highlighted that Batu Kawan, situated in the south Seberang Perai district, has emerged as a vibrant hub within the state.
“Batu Kawan has established itself as a prominent educational centre in Penang,” he remarked.
Jagdeep credited Batu Kawan’s success as the state’s industrial park, hosting numerous multinational corporations.
The industry players involved in the event were Greatech Technology Berhad, Intel Malaysia, Plexus Manufacturing Berhad, SkypeChip Sdn Bhd, Inari Technology Sdn Bhd, Pentamaster Corporation Bhd, Abbott Malaysia, CCB Medical Services, Dexcom Malaysia, BYD Sime Darby Beyond Auto, Cytron Technologies, IME Group of Companies, TF-AMD, and Howei.
Among those present was Tech Dome Penang chief executive officer Khoo Boo Wooi.
