OCBC Bank helps MRCS Penang to purchase medical equipment

OCBC Bank (M) Bhd today donated RM20,000 to the Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) Penang as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative.

OCBC Bank Penang senior manager Chea Hak Tee said the donation would be used by MRCS Penang to purchase a patient monitor equipment.

“We have been told that the donation will be used to purchase a patient monitor equipment, a vital piece of equipment to help increase the survival chances of a patient, while being transported to the nearest hospital.

“So, on behalf of OCBC Bank (M) Bhd, I am very happy that we are able to contribute towards this worthy cause and act of humanity through our ‘Staff CSR Funds’.

“We also thank MRCS Penang which has been servicing our community in providing emergency as well as non-emergency ambulance services,” Chea said in his speech before presented a mock cheque to Penang MRCS chairman Datuk B.J. Yeang at OCBC Premier Banking in Beach Street, George Town today.

Yeang said MRCS Penang is happy and thankful for the noble contribution as it would greatly assist paramedics in doing their rescue work.

“We are very fortunate to receive a much needed contribution to purchase a patient monitor due to the generosity from OCBC Bank ‘Staff CSR Fund’.

“The patient monitor is an electronic medical device that consists of monitoring sensors and a screen display that provides and records a patients medical vital signs.

“These include body temperature, blood pressure, pulse rate and respiratory rate.

“Hence, this medical equipment will greatly assist our paramedics in recording the vital signs of a patient before reaching the nearest hospital, thus, increasing the chances of survival in most cases of emergency,” she said.

Also present during the ceremony were OCBC Bank Penang operation service centre manager Ang Choon Keat, OCBC Bank Penang consumer branch manager Chew Lay Kee and its senior relationship manager Goh Seah Peng.

Other guests were MRCS Penang deputy chairman Datuk Lim Tiong Chin and its honorary treasurer Chris Tan Tee Kheng.
