PENANG has gained a considerable reputation for its diversity and economic growth.
Ambassadors from Argentina Manuel Jose Balaguer Salas, Brazil (Carlos Martins Ceglia), Peru (Guido Felipe Loyza Devescovi) and the chargé d’affaires of Uruguay Juan Andres praised Penang for its success and uniqueness.
They were impressed with the state’s vibrant economic development, growing investment, exciting places of interest and the unique blend of cultures.
Also present was Brazil’s honorary-consul (Penang) Datuk Annie Chin.
The delegation paid a courtesy call on Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow in Komtar today, ahead of the first Latin American Film Festival (LAFF) premier launch at Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) in Gurney Plaza tonight.
The film festival will be held from Dec 5 to Dec 8 with a selection of eight acclaimed Latin American and Caribbean movies.
It is organised by the Latin American and Carribean Embassies in Malaysia.
Meanwhile, Chow said that the Penang government is doing its best to attract investments to the state.
“I believe that we are on the right track in drawing in investments.
