One launch for two events

IT was double the happiness as both the Peace Carnival and the soft launch for “Penang Goes Orange: Stop Violence against Women Campaign” were held at the same time at Penang Times Square on Nov 13.

“I am honoured to be here for the first ever peace carnival. Respecting differences in all aspects for others will gain peace and unity amongst us. I am especially grateful to the organisers for having orange balloons and supporting the Penang Goes Orange Campaign,” Exco member for Youth and Sports and Women, Family and Community Development Chong Eng, who was present at the event, said.

Poppers went off and balloons floated up to the ceiling signalling the official launch of the Peace Carnival.

There was a standing ovation from the crowd present as the VIPs officially launched the event together.

Peace Carnival is a fun-filled and educational event that is happening over 10 days Nov 13 to 22.

The carnival is organised by Global Integrated Transcendental Association of Penang (GITA), a non-governmental organisation (NGO) to spread the awareness of peace and unity to the public.

Others present at the event were Datuk Anwar Fazar from Gandhi Peace Center, Madhusudan Das from GITA, Michael Chang from Penang Times Square, Moorthy Balakrishnan from FX Action Team International, Dastagir Salim from Profil Unggul, Lakshmi Kandan from Shell Relau and R.M Ravichandar, the organising chairman.
