A PART of Medan Penaga will be turned into a one-way street as of Dec 11 by the Penang Island City Council (MBPP).
This decision was made due to the numerous accidents and arguments along this road caused by parking by residents along both sides of the road.
Batu Lanchang assemblymember Law Heng Kiang held a short press conference on Dec 11 at Medan Penaga to notify of the commencement of the one-way system.
“After a lot of discussions and also getting feedback from residents, I asked MBPP to make this road a one-way street. Hopefully this will allow the traffic to flow smoothly here and also reduce the rate of accidents and arguments here,” said Law.
This one-way street system will be in effect for a trial period of three months with constant observation from MBPP to decide on further improvements.
Law added that the residents who reside in the apartments in the affected area should be more considerate of others when parking their cars along the side walk.
