THE outgoing Norwegian ambassador to Malaysia Gunn Jorid Roset hopes that the bilateral ties shared between Penang and Norway will continue to flourish.
Roset, who will be leaving office by the end of this month, hoped that Penang and Norway would keep on exploring ways to exchange expertise, especially in areas concerning green agenda.
“I hope that my successor will continue to engage Penang in discussions pertaining to green agenda, such as waste energy,” she said during virtual meeting today with the Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.
Chow hoped for a continuous working relationship with Norway.
“I hope that we (Penang and Norway) can continue to share our experiences with one another,” he said.
Roset also told Chow that the Norwegian honorary consulate would be reopened in Penang.
“I am happy to inform you that the Norway’s Minister of Foreign Affairs has given the green light to reopen the Norwegian honorary consulate in Penang.
“The process is still in its early stage. We hope that this will help to enhance the Norway-Penang relationship,” Roset said.
Roset added that she would be bringing home fond memories of Penang, especially its amazing food, nature, murals and simplicity.
“Thank you Chief Minister for the fruitful discussions that we have had during our previous meetings, especially during the green agenda workshop held two years back” she said before bidding farewell to Chow.
