AFTER serving for five years as Swedish ambassador to Malaysia, Dag Juhlin-Dannfelt will be leaving his office on Sunday (July 18) with a heavy heart.

Before signing off, Juhlin-Dannfelt paid a virtual courtesy call on Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow today.

During the virtual meeting which lasted for an hour, Juhlin-Dannfelt expressed his utmost gratitude and appreciation to Chow for all the support that he received from the Penang government during his tenure.

“It’s a pleasure to work with you. After all, Penang is always a special place to me because of its amazing food, culture and everything.

“And for me, Penang in many ways has proven itself as a well-managed state in terms of its infrastructure and the economy.

“Thus, I hope that the established bilateral relationship between Penang and Sweden will continue to flourish when my successor arrives in due time.

“So, when the country’s border reopens, I will definitely come back here again to Malaysia especially to Penang because I carry a lot of fond memories here,” he told Chow.

Chow thanked Juhlin-Dannfelt for his five years of dutiful service as Swedish ambassador to Malaysia.

“I also would like to wish you every success in your future endeavours,” he said.

During the virtual meeting, both of them also discussed other issues such as the Covid-19 situation and the vaccination efforts in the state.
