A TOTAL of 19,501 candidates are sitting for their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2022 written tests in 147 examination centres in Penang.
Deputy Education Minister Lim Hui Ying said some candidates were sitting for the SPM 2022 written tests in 15 hospitals in the state.
“Five candidates in Penang have been tested positive for Covid-19 and will be sitting for their exams after their quarantine period.
“The examination centres will be isolating symptomatic candidates and they will be taking their exams in a designated area,” she said after visiting St Xavier’s Institution (SXI) in Farquhar Street this morning.
It was reported that a total of 403,637 candidates would be sitting for the SPM 2022 written tests from today (Feb 20) to March 15, involving 3,355 examination centres nationwide.
Lim, together with Penang Education Department (school management sector) deputy director Abdul Said Hussain, SXI Brother Director Bro Jason Blaikie, and school principal Goh Hong Peng checked out the examination hall and classrooms this morning before the exams started.
“We wish you great success. Do your best and have confidence,” she told the candidates during the visit.
Lim also thanked the SPM 2022 invigilators who are on duty throughout the examination period.
