THE Padang Brown Hawker Centre located at Perak Road is scheduled to undergo additional roof installation works starting next month.
Former Komtar assemblyman Teh Lai Heng has estimated the cost of the project at RM400,000.
“Caretaker Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow had previously agreed to this project during his visit to the complex last year.
“He had then called the Penang Island City Council (MBPP) to conduct a feasibility study for this initiative.
“We expect the additional roof installation works to be wrapped up in seven months,” he told reporters during his visit to the hawker complex today.
Teh said the project would benefit the visitors to the hawker complex once the project is completed.
Among those present were Deputy Education Minister Lim Hui Ying, who is also the Tanjung MP, and MBPP councillors.
