THE Pertubuhan Wanita Mutiara (PWM) has contributed RM5,000 to Penang Adventist Hospital (PAH) in conjunction with the hospital’s 98th anniversary.
PAH chief operating officer Dr Thomas Tean thanked the PWM, which was led by Madam Tan Lean Kee, the wife of Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, for its kind gesture.
“Your generous donation towards our ‘98 Christmas Tree’ fundraiser for Dr J Earl Gardner’s Fund will certainly make an impact in the life of needy patients undergoing surgery in our hospital,” Tean said during the mock cheque presentation ceremony at the PAH on Nov 8.
Tean said despite facing the Covid-19 challenges, the PAH has continued serving those who are in need via their medical disbursement and corporate social responsibility work.
“Throughout these two years of the pandemic, we saw our donation going down to 40% but we remained active in reaching out to the needy in our community.
“Last year, we disbursed RM3.2 million for charity and assisted 4,000 beneficiaries.
“We have also offered 700 free mammogram screenings since June this year, thanks to a donor who believed in our cause.
“All these are only possible through a partnership with good people like you.
“We would like to say a big thank you to Madam Tan and PWM members for your time, teamwork and support,” Tean added.
PAH charity manager Jenny Ooi said a total of 98 Christmas trees have been placed at the hospital whereby each tree will be displaying the donor’s name on it.
