Palate & Pearls of Penang to celebrate food, culture and heritage

IN conjunction with Open Studio Penang 2025, The Art Gallery, Penang, will present Palate & Pearls of Penang – a captivating showcase of artworks celebrating the food, treasures, people, and places that define Penang’s unique charm.

 

The Art Gallery Penang director Ee Lene Tan said the exhibition will run from March 7 (Friday) to March 23 (Sunday), featuring 28 artworks across various mediums, including acrylic, batik, mixed media, oil, and watercolour.

The gallery will open from Friday to Sunday, 2pm to 5pm (other times, by appointment only), with ‘Meet the Artist Session’ scheduled for March 15 (Saturday) at 3pm at The Art Gallery, Penang, Belissa Row in Pulau Tikus. Admission is free.

 

Tan said participating artists include Jason Min (Penang), Kek Hoon Pin (Penang), Lim Anuar (Kuala Lumpur), Lim Jee Yuan (Kuala Lumpur), Suleiman Adewumi (Nigeria), Ooi Viv (Perlis), Tan Zhou Xian (Penang), and Vincent Phang (Perak), each offering their personal interpretations.

 

“Visitors to Palate & Pearls of Penang will be immersed in the rich tapestry of Penang’s culture, heritage, and culinary delights. Through these diverse artworks, the exhibition celebrates the state’s essence – its traditions, multiculturalism, and treasured way of life,” Tan said.
