PENANG is popularly known as a state that prioritises meaningful activities for its young people, and the state views motorsport as an activity with a high potential here.
State Youth, Sports, and Health Committee chairman Daniel Gooi Zi Sen said recently that while there were growing concerns surrounding illegal street racing nationwide, providing an avenue with reduced risk and safe navigation for individuals was important.
“Motorsport, if nurtured correctly, is not only about racing but also greatly contributes to one’s discipline, engineering, teamwork, and determination.
“It offers an alternative path for those who are passionate about speed but need proper guidance and facilities.

“By organising well-structured racing events and training programmes, we provide young people with a legitimate avenue to pursue their passion, reducing the risks associated with illegal street racing.
“Instead of endangering themselves and others on public roads, they can refine their skills in a controlled and safe environment under expert supervision.
This is how we transform energy into excellence by guiding our youth toward responsible, goal-oriented pursuits,” Gooi said in his speech during the ‘NFS Racing 3 hours Endurance’ programme at Times Square in George Town on March 29.
Later, Gooi also thanked NFS Racing for their dedication to youth development and motorsports excellence.
He also assured that the state government will continue to support such initiatives, especially if it plays a key role in shaping the future of Penang.
Also present during the programme were Komtar assemblyman Teh Lai Heng and Air Itam assemblyman Joseph Ng Soon Siang.
