Paving the way to increase comfortability for Green Lane folk

IN an effort to address woes raised by residents living in Jalan Changkat Tembaga, Green Lane, Penang Island City Council (MBPP) councillors and Seri Delima service centre jointly initiated a paving road project there for increased comfortability for the public.

Seri Delima assemblyman Syerleena Abdul Rashid said the project was an important move to not only address the concerns raised by the residents there, but it was also crucial to further increase the popularity of Bukit Hijau, a hiking trail located within the vicinity of Jalan Changkat Tembaga.

“Bukit Hijau is slowly becoming a preferred hiking spot for many, hence it is vital to ensure the safety of the people when they visit this place,” Syerleena told a brief press conference in Jalan Changkat Tembaga today.

According to Syerleena, the project, which started on Dec 24, currently is 60% completed, while the remaining 40% of works are expected to be completed soon.

“MBPP councillors Quah Boon Lim and Tan Soo Siang funded the entire paving road project at a cost of RM8,996.50 from their councillors’ allocation.

“I would like to extend my greatest appreciation and warm thanks to them for coming forward and making sure the initiative was made possible,” Syerleena added.

It was understood that Quah and Tan contributed RM5,000 and RM3,996.50 respectively.

Syerleena also said the project, which covers the route just next to Bukit Hijau (before hiking up), leading to a beautiful hidden waterfall and a couple of Hindu and Chinese temples, was important to ensure the visitors have a safe journey back and forth the area.

“The Penang government always gives top priority to the safety of Penangites, and we will continue to do so as and when it is required,” she added.
