THE Pertubuhan Pusat Aktiviti Warga Emas (PAWE) Jelutong today celebrated Valentine’s Day with 160 senior citizens and members at Ascott Gurney in George Town.
The event was graced by guest of honour Madam Tan Lean Kee, the wife of the Chief Minister of Penang, PAWE Jelutong and Rose Charities Malaysia chairman Datuk Seri Lawrence Cheah and his wife Datin Seri Lili Cheah.
“Valentine’s Day, to us, is a celebration of love, kindness, and appreciation. It is a time to express gratitude to all who believe in harmony, compassion, and happiness.

“This joyous occasion is not just for the young but also for our senior citizens, who deserve to be cherished and celebrated,” said Cheah.
During the celebration, Cheah announced that PAWE Jelutong will be organising a Food, Health, and Consumer Carnival at Han Chiang University College of Communication on Feb 22 to raise funds for its community initiatives.
The fundraising initiative includes the sale of Charity Food Carnival coupons at RM30 each, enabling residents from various welfare homes and orphanages to attend the event. Among the beneficiaries are Jubilee Home for the Aged, Little Sisters of the Poor and St Nicholas’ School for the Blind.
PAWE Jelutong, a new initiative established by Rose Charities Malaysia in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare Malaysia (JKM), currently has over 200 members.
PAWE Jelutong encourages senior citizens aged 60 and above to join the centre to enrich their lives, connect with the community and participate in various activities. The centre also welcomes young people to uplift the lives of the B40 elderly community, bringing fresh energy and support to its initiatives.
