BOTH Penang Development Corporation (PDC) and PBA Holdings Bhd (PBAHB) have made an important commitment.

PDC signed the Whistleblower Policy during the Integrity Day at PDC on March 17 while PBAHB signed the Corporate Integrity Pledge (CIP) with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on April 18.

“The CIP is a commitment that supports anti-corruption principles. The employees of a company that signs the CIP with the MACC are effectively pledging that they will not be involved in any form of corruption,” PBAHB and PBAPP chief executive officer Datuk Jaseni Maidinsa said.

At the PDC, Dr. Anis Yusal Yusoff, president and chief executive officer of Integrity Institute Malaysia, witnessed the launch of PDC Whistleblower Policy and thereafter gave a talk to PDC staff members.
PDC signed the CIP in May 2014 while PBAHB did it recently.

The CIP event held on April 18 saw the presence of MACC deputy chief commissioner (Prevention) Datuk Seri Mustafar Ali. Jaseni signed the CIP with Penang MACC director Datuk Samarajoo Manikam.
After the event, Jaseni led the corporate pledging ceremony with more than 50 employees, including heads of divisions, managers and executives.

Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng who delivered a speech said: “I believe the principles of the CIP include the promotion of transparency, integrity and good governance and the enhancement of internal control mechanisms, as well as compliance with laws, regulations and measures to combat all forms of corruption. These principles are in line with the Penang State Government’s CAT (Clean, Accountable and Transparent) policy.”

He further added: “The CAT policy guides us in state-level decision-making, and has resulted in a clean state administration.”
