THE Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau (PCEB) has announced a new initiative, called the ‘Mainland Incentive Brochure Launch’ to highlight the uniqueness of the mainland and to boost business events there.

PCEB chief executive officer Ashwin Gunasekeran said the incentive brochure contains essential information about the mainland and its DNA.

“This initiative has a high potential of drawing the attention of esteemed business travellers towards the captivating mainland.

“I am honoured to express our greatest appreciation for the invaluable support our Business Events consortium partners provided in our joint effort to make this project a reality.

“Your steadfast commitment and unwavering dedication have been instrumental in driving the success of this endeavour, and we are truly grateful for the privilege of working alongside all of you.

“Our collaboration has truly exemplified the power of teamwork and cooperation in achieving our shared goals, and we look forward to continuing this partnership in future initiatives,” Ashwin said in his speech during the launching of the brochure at the Butterworth Arena on the mainland on May 12.

He also described the initiative as a milestone from the mainland BE consortium that promises to drive substantial growth for the business events industry in Penang as a whole.

“Our commitment to fostering positive growth for the business events industry in Penang is unwavering, and we are confident that this latest initiative will bring us a step closer to achieving our vision of attracting high-value and high-impact events to Penang,” he added.

Meanwhile, state Tourism and Creative Economy Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin, the guest of honour for the night, applauded PCEB for this effort.

He said PCEB plays a vital role in supporting the state’s vision of promoting the mainland on local and international levels for the business events industry.

“The business events industry has shown remarkable resilience in its recovery while demonstrating its agility and perseverance in adapting to the new digital and innovative environment.

“Last year, in a joint effort with PCEB, the state government had successfully hosted 281 events, resulting in a remarkable estimated economic impact (EEI) of RM375 million.

“It is my utmost wish for the mainland industry partners to stay united under the Mainland Business Events Consortium to explore collaboration and product development opportunities to elevate the mainland as the preferred destination for business events,” Yeoh said in his speech.
