THE Penang Development Corporation (PDC) remains one of the most active agencies in the state, spearheading various projects that contribute to economic growth while also developing housing and infrastructure for the people.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow commended PDC for its invaluable contributions to Penang’s progress, highlighting 2024 as a year of positive developments driven by the successful execution of long-planned projects.

“As the chairman of PDC, I firmly believe that the corporation will continue to prioritise the people’s welfare while executing projects efficiently and effectively.

“PDC has faced numerous challenges and achievements since its establishment in 1969. I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude to the PDC team for their dedication and sacrifices, which have significantly contributed to the development of Penang,” he said during the PDC Chinese New Year Open House today.

Looking ahead to 2025, Chow expressed pride in PDC’s strong start to the year, particularly with the signing of the Master Sale and Development Agreement for Penang Medi City in Batu Kawan with Fajarbaru Builder Group (FBG) on January 25.

“This ambitious project will further strengthen Penang’s position as a leading destination for medical tourism and healthcare innovation in the region,” he said.

Apart from enhancing the healthcare sector and boosting the economy, the project is also expected to create job opportunities and improve the standard of living.

“In the near future, PDC will launch several more initiatives for Penang’s development. I urge all PDC staff to remain committed to building a brighter future for the next generation, mapping Penang as a competitive and high-quality state,” Chow added.

On a separate note, Chow officiated the opening of the PDC Sports Arena, a new facility designed specifically for PDC staff members.

The RM3.9 million arena accommodates futsal, netball, table tennis, and badminton courts.
