BANDAR Cassia, named after the Cassia siamea flowers found in Batu Kawan, is Penang’s largest township development, covering 6,326 acres. It is poised to become a major catalyst for economic growth in both the state and the northern region.
The Penang Development Corporation (PDC) envisioned Bandar Cassia as an integrated, smart eco-township promoting a balanced lifestyle within a vibrant community.
PDC chief executive officer Datuk Aziz Bakar said the township offers easy access to Penang island and the Peninsula, stimulating investment and job creation.
“It is connected to the North-South Expressway and the Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah Bridge.
“Serving as a hub for innovation and high-tech industries, Bandar Cassia is an integral extension of Penang’s industrial ecosystem.
“The establishment of Batu Kawan Industrial Park (BKIP) in 2011 marked the beginning, followed by Bandar Cassia Technology Park (BCTP) and Batu Kawan Industrial Park 3 (BKIP3).
“These parks accommodate industries such as electrical and electronics (E&E), medical technology, aerospace/avionics, and precision engineering and equipment,” he told Buletin Mutiara recently.
Aziz said that after PDC completed the Batu Kawan Stadium in 1999 and the initial phase of residential development, private developers began contributing diverse property developments, ranging from residential to commercial lots.
“Among the notable projects were Design Village Outlet Mall, Aspen Vision City, Eco Horizon, Utropolis Batu Kawan, and One Auto Hub,” he said.
Aziz also mentioned the highly-anticipated Medi-City Bandar Cassia project aimed to promote eco-tourism and provide world-class medical services.
“The success of Bandar Cassia demonstrates the potential of a well-planned, integrated city to meet the evolving needs of a modern urban lifestyle.
“As a township that stimulates the economy and enhances the overall living quality of its population, Bandar Cassia reflects PDC’s innovation, forward planning, and commitment to driving sustainable urbanisation in Penang,” he added.
