TO commemorate its 50th anniversary, Penang Development Corporation (PDC) will organise its 5km Fun Walk with the theme ‘Spearheading Growth’.
Penang Deputy Chief Minister 1 Datuk Ahmad Zakiyuddin Abdul Rahman will flag off the event on Nov 30 at 7am at the PDC office in Bayan Baru.
PDC general manager Datuk Mohd Bazid Abd Kahar said the objective of the event besides celebrating the anniversary celebration was also to highlight PDC as among one of the first buildings in the township of Bayan Baru.
“Another objective is to nurture the concept of ‘Sports for All” focusing on the culture of healthy living.
“The other objective is to tighten the relationship with the community and the management of PDC,” Mohd Bazir told a press conference today.
Also present was PDC Fun Walk 2019 programme chairman Zulkifli Ismail.
“As of Sept 30, a total of 824 participants have entered the walk. The targeted number of participants is 3,000 walkers, aged 12 years and above.
“The first 1,000 participants need to pay a registration fee of RM40, while subsequent participants have to pay RM45 each. Every participant will receive a T-shirt, medal, wristband, e-cert and a goodie bag,” he added.
The collection of goodie bag will be on Nov 23 and 24 at the PDC office. The closing date for registration is on Nov 2.
Zulkifli said besides the fun walk, there would be food trucks, booths for registration of PDC’s affordable housing, Anti-Corruption Agency, Ministry of Youth and Sports and others.
“Among the lucky draw items are bicycles, sports and electrical goods and others. The most creative wear participation will also receive a mystery gift.”
