PENANG plays a crucial role in precision manufacturing, electronics engineering, and automation, attracting global investments and strengthening Malaysia’s position in the international supply chain.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow emphasised that the machinery manufacturing industry is a key pillar of the national economy, driving industrial modernisation, technological innovation, and job creation.
“Over the decades, the Federation of Malaysia Foundry & Engineering Industries Associations (FOMFEIA) and the Penang Foundry & Engineering Industries Association (PENFEIA) have been instrumental in fostering industry growth, supporting businesses, and spearheading transformation initiatives.

“The commitment by both to enhancing technical expertise, collaboration, and business adaptability deserves high commendation,” Chow said in his speech during FOMFEIA’s 48th anniversary and PENFEIA’s 46th anniversary celebration in Bukit Mertajam.
He congratulated both associations on their milestone anniversaries, noting that rapid advancements in Industry 4.0 automation and green manufacturing continue to strengthen Penang’s industrial ecosystem.
“I urge all entrepreneurs to seize new opportunities, drive innovation, and collaborate with the state to propel Penang’s manufacturing sector,” he said.

Chow also extended his sincere gratitude to FOMFEIA, PENFEIA and other industry partners for their unwavering contributions to economic development.
FOMFEIA and PENFEIA president Datuk Richard Teh highlighted the importance of artificial intelligence (AI) in the evolving era.
“It is important for us to embrace the era of innovation,” he said, emphasising the state’s support towards both FOMFEIA and PENFEIA.

Among those present during the event were state Youth, Sports and Health Committee chairman Daniel Gooi, Bukit Tengah assemblyman Gooi Hsiao-Leung, Bukit Tambun assemblyman Goh Choon Aik, Kebun Bunga assemblyman Lee Boon Heng, Sungai Puyu assemblyman Phee Syn Tze, former state executive councillors Datuk Seri Phee Boon Poh, and councillors.
