THE Penang government will follow the guidelines with regard to the salary increment for the civil servants in Penang, says Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.
Speaking to reporters earlier today, Chow said the matter was not discussed in the last Penang executive council (exco) meeting.
“We did not manage to discuss the matter in the last meeting. We will address it in the coming one.
“Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim mentioned in his speech that it won’t be a uniform raise for every civil servant.
“There might be evaluations to determine each individual’s salary increase. We will follow any guidelines set forth,” Chow replied to a question by a journalist after attending the groundbreaking ceremony of SJKC Kuang Yu in Batu Kawan today.
Anwar was quoted recently that the increase in civil servants’ salaries is contingent upon performance, not an automatic entitlement.
