Penang Go Digital Carnival offers a day of learning and fun for all

THE Penang Go Digital Carnival, set to take place on Sept 29 at the PICCA Convention Centre @ Butterworth Arena, promises to be an exciting day of digital exploration, education, and entertainment.

 

Running from 9am to 5pm, the event aims to introduce attendees to the latest in digital technology, featuring insights from digital startups and enterprises, hands-on activities, and the opportunity to win valuable prizes.

 

According to Digital Penang SME and Community Development manager Mohamad Elias Akbar, the carnival’s primary objective is to promote a digital lifestyle and highlight innovative digital solutions.

“We have invited a diverse range of SMEs and digital startups to showcase their expertise and services. Visitors will also have the chance to participate in engagement sessions covering practical uses of e-wallets, e-hailing services, and more,” he said.

 

One of the event’s highlights is an eSports competition, organised in collaboration with Universiti Teknologi Mara Penang (UiTM Penang) and Penang Youth Development Corporation (PYDC).

 

To be held from 10am to 3pm, the competition will feature popular titles such as Mobile Legends and PUBG, attracting gaming enthusiasts from across the region.

 

Digital Penang marketing and industry development senior executive Eric Thoo noted that the carnival will host over 40 SMEs and government agencies, all eager to display their products and services.

“The Penang Go Digital Carnival offers a fun and informative environment for visitors to learn about digital technology.

 

“We have also introduced a ‘stamp card’ initiative, where visitors can complete certain tasks to become eligible for our lucky draw,” Thoo explained in an interview today.

 

The lucky draw prizes include a 55-inch TV, a smartwatch, a mobile phone, a 2D1N hotel stay at the Grand Orient Hotel Perai Penang, and more, adding an extra layer of excitement to the day.

The event is expected to attract approximately 1,000 visitors. For those in need of a quick bite, food trucks will be stationed at the venue.
