IN collaboration with the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN), the Penang government will launch the Program Anak Emas (Golden Child Programme) at Mydin Bukit Mertajam on Aug 3 from 8.30am to 6pm.
State executive councillor for Social Development, Welfare, and Non-Islamic Religious Affairs, Lim Siew Khim said this incentive is a sign of appreciation from the state government to the community of Penang in empowering the higher education of Penang children.
“This initiative aims to provide a one-off assistance payment of RM200 to infants and toddlers aged two years and under.
“Effective January 15, 2024, RM100 will be awarded for creating an account or making a deposit to the Simpanan SSPN Prime account through an agreement, and RM100 will be distributed to qualified candidates.
“To qualify, at least one of the baby’s parents must be registered as a voter in the state of Penang with the Election Commission (EC),” said Lim at the press conference at Komtar this morning.
Also present were PTPTN chairman Datuk Norliza Abdul Rahim, PTPTN chief executive Ahmad Dasuki Abdul Majid and state director of the PTPTN office in Penang, Muhammad Muhsin Abdul Rahman.
PTPTN has been actively promoting Simpan SSPN Prime, a savings account that offers various advantages and benefits for children. These include competitive dividends, government-guaranteed savings, shariah-compliant investments, takaful protection for depositors, free matching grants up to RM10,000 for qualifying families, and income tax reductions on savings up to RM8,000 annually.
At the PTPTN promotion counter, parents who meet the eligibility requirements can register directly for the Program Anak Emas.
A wide range of entertaining events, including a song competition, a colouring contest, and a baby crawling competition, are lined up for the event. Additionally, there will be an EPF advising service, a free health screening booth, an account check booth, and a Simpan SSPN promotion booth.
