Penang govt raises target to 10,000 participants for LovePENANG Run 2023

THE Penang government has increased its target for the LovePENANG Run programme to 10,000 entries to enable more participants to take part in the fun run activity.

 

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the LovePENANG Run received strong support from the public that it exceeded the initial target of 5,000 entries.

“The programme registered 7,100 entries as of this morning (May 2).

 

“The public should take this opportunity to foster a close relationship with each other and take part in the leisure programme which promotes a healthy lifestyle,” he told a media conference at Komtar today.

 

Penang Youth and Sports Committee chairman Soon Lip Chee said each successful participant who registered and take part in the LovePENANG Run programme would receive a LovePENANG T-shirt, a finisher medal, an e-Certificate, and stand a chance to win an attractive lucky draw prize.

 

“Among the prizes for the lucky draw are five motorcycles, 30 bicycles, and 142 LovePENANG backpacks.

 

 

“The participants will also be receiving a goodie bag each,” he said.

 

Also present at the media conference were DSP S. Mogan from the Penang police contingent, Penang Youth and Sports Department director Mozakir Buyong Mokhtar, Penang Youth Development Corporation (PYDC) general manager Dr Gwee Sai Ling, Penang Women’s Development Corporation (PWDC) chief executive officer Ong Bee Leng, Penang Forward Sports Club chairman Lim Choo Hooi and other sponsors.

 

The deadline for registration is May 7, or when the 10,000 mark is reached.

 

Registration is RM15 per person.

 

 

The LovePENANG Run 2023 will be held at Vision Park in Kepala Batas on May 14 at 7am.
