THE Penang government is committed to strengthening its partnership with Putrajaya to boost the digital skills literacy of Penangites.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow highlighted the critical role of digital skills in today’s era of the digital economy.
“The state and Federal authorities must collaborate to ensure universal access to the advancement of digital technology, irrespective of individuals’ backgrounds.
“This encompasses initiatives to establish robust digital infrastructure and enhance community accessibility to training opportunities,” he said during the Saya Digital campaign held at Bukit Jambul Complex today.
The campaign was organised by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), as part of its series of exhibitions in the country. The two-day event started yesterday (March 9).
Deputy Minister for Digital Datuk Wilson Ugak Anak Kumbong said that the campaign has benefitted about 20,894 people.
“A total of 654 people in Penang have registered for this programme,” he said, praising the campaign’s effectiveness.
Meanwhile, MDEC chairman Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh aspired to empower approximately one million individuals with digital literacy skills by the year’s end.
