THE Penang government will carry out its role as a caretaker government once the State Legislative Assembly is dissolved, says Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.
“The state executive council members and the Chief Minister can perform their caretaker duties until the next state government is formed.
“In this duration, no decision-making will be made while those projects that had been announced earlier will still be continued.
“However, we have decided that we will be performing our duties as caretakers (which includes the usage of official vehicles, among others) until the Nomination Day when the list of candidates for the state election is confirmed and announced.
“The official vehicles will still be used until the Nomination Day,” he replied to a journalist when asked if the exco members and Chow would return their official vehicles once the State Legislative Assembly is dissolved.
On a news report that DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke is slated to contest in Penang, Chow rubbished off such baseless claims.
“There is no substantial truth to the report. The media is duty-bound to report certain news, but they must evaluate it themselves before publishing it in printed and online media.
“What if I say Chow Kon Yeow is to contest in Seremban? There’s no basis,” he quipped.
