THE Penang government is set to review a request from the Kedah Road Flats Residents’ Association to upgrade the building’s ageing lifts, which currently do not stop at every floor, posing significant inconvenience for residents.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow announced plans to hold discussions with key stakeholders to address the matter.

“Thus, I will discuss with MBPP mayor Datuk A. Rajendran and Deputy Finance Minister Lim Hui Ying, who is also the Tanjong MP representing this area,” Chow stated.

He made these remarks during the Deepavali Open House held at Kedah Road Flats in Jalan Kedah earlier this evening.

Chow underscored the need for a substantial allocation of funds to upgrade the old lifts while reaffirming the state government’s commitment to finding a solution.

“Upgrading the lifts will require significant funding, but we remain committed to supporting the residents.

“We will first conduct discussions to determine the appropriate allocation for this project,” he added.

Kedah Road Flats consists of 22 floors and 320 residential units.

The Deepavali Open House was organised by the Kedah Road Flats Residents’ Association.

Also present at the event were Pengkalan Kota assemblyman Wong Yuee Harng, MBPP mayor Datuk A. Rajendran, and Kedah Road Flats Residents’ Association chairman Abdul Wahab Shaik Mydin.
