THE Penang government will review a request from the Kedah Road Flats Residents’ Association to upgrade parking lots and public toilets near the flats’ multipurpose hall, following concerns over their deteriorating condition.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow acknowledged the issue, stating that he had been informed by the residents’ association that both facilities are in a dilapidated state, which has caused significant inconvenience to residents.

“Therefore, I will discuss this matter further with Deputy Finance Minister Lim Hui Ying, who is also the Tanjong MP representing this area.

“She will make every effort to secure the necessary funds for this upgrade,” Chow said in his speech during the Chinese New Year Open House held at the Kedah Road Flats on Jalan Kedah earlier this evening.

Chow reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to addressing the concerns of the people.

“As a government that prioritises the well-being of its citizens, we are dedicated to resolving this issue.

“This is not the first time we have received such a request from the residents’ association. In the past, we have fulfilled their requests, including the upgrading of lifts and other facilities,” he added.

Also present were Lim, Penang Island City Council (MBPP) mayor Datuk A. Rajendran, MBPP councillors Benji Ang Ming Quan and Alan Lim Wei Lun, and Kedah Road Flats Residents’ Association chairman Abdul Wahab Shaik Mydin.
